EN | For the fourth solo album by pianist Élodie Vignon on Cypres, we have long been dreaming of a recording with orchestra! And so begins this fruitful collaboration with Eric Lederhandler, head of the Czech Virtuosi ensemble, of which he has been guest conductor for the past twenty years. Just as Élodie Vignon's first three albums which weave links between music and poetry, this one presents a unique programme, designed by Élodie and Eric to give pride of place to both orchestra and piano.
Manuel de Falla's Nights in the gardens of Spain quickly established itself as a masterpiece, combining finesse with the need to translate popular Spanish folklore with wit. They are an evocation of Andalusia, and more particularly of gypsy music. Gabriel Fauré's Ballade pour piano et orchestra adds a touch of French Romanticism to this programme.
Leader of the Finnish national school, Jean Sibelius appears here in two different guises through symphonic pieces, ranging from the most exalted Retour de Lemminkäinen to the most intimate of The Bard.

FR | Pour le quatrième album en soliste de la pianiste Élodie Vignon chez Cypres, nous murissions depuis longtemps le projet d’un enregistrement avec orchestre ! Ainsi démarre cette fructueuse collaboration avec Eric Lederhandler, à la tête de l’ensemble Czech Virtuosi, dont il est le chef invité depuis vingt ans. A l’instar des trois premiers albums d’Élodie Vignon qui tissent des liens entre musique et poésie, celui-ci présente un programme unique, conçu par Élodie et Eric de manière à ce qu’il fasse la part belle tant à l’orchestre qu’au piano.
Les Nuits dans les jardins d’Espagne de Manuel de Falla se sont vite imposées comme pièce maîtresse, alliant la finesse à la nécessité de traduire le folklore populaire espagnol avec esprit. Elles sont une évocation de l’Andalousie, et plus particulièrement de la musique gitane. La Ballade pour piano et orchestre de Gabriel Fauré amène quant à elle une touche de romantisme à la française à ce programme.
Chef de file de l’école nationale finlandaise, Jean Sibelius est présenté ici sous deux jours différents au travers de pièces symphoniques, allant de la plus grande exaltation du Retour de Lemminkäinen à la plus grande intimité du Barde.
